Sales for January 28-February 3.....And Other Stuff

I have noticed a trend on Etsy that seems to have picked up steam since the first of the year.  It was just a hint here and there and now it has fully taken over.  It seems that pics on stark, white backgrounds are no longer in vogue.  The front page and popular treasuries are now packed with pics with fully staged, dark and light, patterned backgrounds.

I actually thought about changing my picture taking style this last week due to that fact.

UNTIL......

I received a message from a popular overseas magazine that wants to use an item in my shop in an upcoming issue.  (More about this later!) One of the reasons they want to use my item is that I shoot my pictures on white backgrounds.  They can drop out the background and use the item as they would like.  OK, I'll maintain my current picture taking course for now!

February is here and I still haven't done my photo post.  It's not for lack of trying.  I have started about 10 times and them get derailed.  It has been wwwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyy harder than I thought to break down the process.  My posts are pages long and then when I reread them, I'm not happy with them.  I'll continue to work on it.

I finished running my business numbers so DH and I can file our taxes.  It's looking great at the moment.  While our refunds have gotten smaller since I started selling online I'm not complaining because we will STILL get a REFUND this year.  I was sweating bullets thinking we were gonna owe.

The sales have been painfully slow this week, but I am happy to report that 3 of those sales were international.  YA!  They haven't been completely scared away by the astronomical increase in shipping charges!!

Here is how the sales went this week:

Revere Cine 8 Movie Camera: Sold $22.00

I had another Seller Outreach call this Thursday.  Last time I had a call, the sales came in fast and furious for a couple of days afterwards.  It's been crickets this whole past week until this morning when I finally had 2 sales and a decent offer on a super rare, out of print cross stitch graph.

I hope your sales were fantastic this week! Thanks for stopping by! :)

  1. Have you ever thought of doing photography professionally? The reason I don't sell on Etsy is because I can't compete with photos like yours. They're so beautiful!

  2. Thank you very much! I haven't really thought too much about it. I look around at other people's pics and feel like mine are still seriously lacking. I am continuing to improve my skills, so who knows what the future may hold!
