I have been sitting in a corner rocking back and forth, crying for the past two days......OK that's being a little dramatic but I have been REALLY upset and on the verge of tears at times.
Etsy announced this week that it was going to a STAR feedback system. WHAT. THE. HE**?!?!?!?!?
You can read about it here and here.
Sellers and buyers had an opportunity earlier this year to take a survey about what our suggestions were for improving the feedback system. Nothing else was really said about it except that it was something they were looking at.
The overwhelming sentiment in the forums was that the feedback system was very unbalanced as sellers ratings of buyers was hidden from the public view. That and sellers could not respond to neutral or negative feedback to defend themselves.
✲✲✲✲✲Monday it was announced.
Bomb Dropped. Blindsided Sellers and Buyers.
It would be rolled out to ALL sellers/buyers by the end of the week. (I got it on Tuesday.)
Here's the overview if you didn't want to read the info in the above links. My pissed off, totally seething, eBay seller, already been down this road comments are also there for your enjoyment.
There is no more positive or negative. Now buyers get to rate their purchase on a star scale from 1-5. (Goodbye perfect feedback! There is always room for improvement, right?!)
There is absolutely. no. more. seller to buyer. feedback. period. (Roll out the welcome mat to scammers and extortionists.)
✫✫✫✫✫Oh! Hold on to your seats folks it gets even BETTER!
Buyers now have 60 DAYS to revise their feedback. REVISE THEIR FEEDBACK! I am still unclear as to whether they can just revise, revise, revise until the 60 days is up or if there is a number of times (I can't BELIEVE I am even saying THAT!!) buyers can revise their feedback.
Hey Adrienne. You know that 50 year old egg beater thingy I bought from you 6 weeks ago that I was totally thrilled with then. Um, ya. It broke and I want a refund. I'm not happy with it anymore and I am going to revise my feedback accordingly unless I get a full/partial refund.
All buyer feedback was erased, including all appreciation pics sent to sellers by buyers. A buyer account now has no feedback, and sellers feedback dropped, sometimes dramatically, to remove any feedback left from purchases the seller made. I lost 50 feedback.
Star reviews are based on the last 12 months. The total number of reviews you have received will always be displayed as a cumulative total but the stars displayed on your store home page is the average of you reviews received in the last 12 months.
Etsy has no customer service to call.
No back up when that unreasonable customer rakes you over the coals undeservedly.
No block buyer feature to offer a smidgeon of protection to sellers from the crazies.
It has been about 24 hours since a big chunk of shops received this Etsy "gift" and the reality of the situation is setting in as shops with previous 100% positive feedback now get positive comments and 3 or 4 star reviews. The Etsy forums had a number of threads from upset sellers who don't know what to do with this new system and how to deal with buyers who say they are happy but ding their stars.
Welcome to eBay! Oh wait...........................
What were they thinking?!?
How is this better?!?!
I'm still in shock!!!!!
My corner is calling....................................
