Well true to form it has happened again! The month of October arrived and Etsy and eBay made the big switch. Etsy is outperforming eBay as it has in years past this time of year. After my lousy September, I definitely breathed a sigh of relief!
I was curious to see what would happen. I have more listings on eBay than I have ever had before. I also now have 2 Etsy shops and more listings there than ever too. Would sales pick up? Continue to slow down? Questions now answered!
I welcome the Christmas shopping season with open arms! If it stays true to last year, sales will stay way up until early February. YA!
As I look at my eBay store and evaluate how the last 6 months have gone, I realized that I REALLY like selling light items that can ship for free. Flatware, cross stitch and embroidery kits, etc. So easy, so abundant, and so profitable. I am looking at moving my eBay store completely in that direction over 2014.
I will start weeding out old and heavy inventory over the next three months with the goal to be to hit it hard come January first with my new, lighter inventory. It's the perfect time to do some heavy inventory pruning as my sales really spiral down to nothing on eBay around Christmas. That's the plan for now!
And as promised, an adorable puppy:
OVG Etsy shop. He's not one of the small dog figurines either. He's a whopping 9" tall! He's going to reside on my dresser until he finds a new home.
Maybe with you?
How is October treating you so far?
